The highly acclaimed author of "Video Atlas of Human Anatomy," Dr. Acland works toward improving the methods for teaching human anatomy to students and practicing physicians by using three dimensional camera techniques. He has received a total of $952,000 in funding for his projects, which include:

"Acland's Cross-Sectional Navigator." It presents the high-resolution cross-sectional images of the National Library of Medicine's Visible Human Project, enabling the user to make a detailed layer-by-layer exploration of cross-sectional anatomy. Lippincott Williams & Wilkins released the Cross-Sectional Navigator in August 2005.

Research Opportunities
As Director of the Fresh Tissue Dissection Laboratory, Dr. Acland facilitates and advises on all research and teaching projects proposed by students, residents, and faculty in all clinical departments at the School of Medicine. All projects in the Fresh Tissue Dissection Laboratory involve dissection on minimally embalmed human cadaveric specimens and include individual and group learning sessions, televised demonstrations, morphometric research, and development of new procedures, approaches and devices.
